NEW YORK - CBS News and The Washington Post have forged an alliance to share news resources for their online outlets — CBSNews.com and WashingtonPost.com — during the 2008 presidential campaign. ADVERTISEMENT

The two companies are planning to announce the arrangement on Tuesday and begin sharing news video and stories about the presidential campaign on the same day. Readers will be able to engage reporters from both CBS’s news division and the Post in live chats and other online interactions.

Kris Coratti, a spokeswoman for the Post’s online division, said the news-sharing arrangement applied only to the online outlets of the two news organizations.

The CBS network is part of CBS Corp., while the Post’s parent company is The Washington Post Co., which also owns Newsweek magazine, the Kaplan education business and the online magazine Slate.
